SAP Monitoring with the SAP Solution Manager captures metrics and data points from your SAP systems. Relevant data is gathered from applications, interfaces, processes, databases, jobs and the SAP Basis system. By collecting process-relevant monitoring data and comparing it against pre-defined alarm and threshold values, the SAP Solution Manager enables event and alarm management. Alerts can be transmitted via e-mail or SMS through the interface construct. The Solution Manager interface also allows an ITIL-compliant connection to a ticketing system – noting that the Solution Manager itself already provides its own IT Service Management. Through defined actions the Solution Manager can also react automatically to monitoring events.

For cloud-centric landscapes, SAP offers monitoring solutions with SAP CALM (SAP Cloud ALM) that provide a feature set comparable to the Solution Manager.
