Monitoring gives you an overview of the health status of your SAP-supported IT and business processes and thereby safeguards the achievement of your quality and availability targets.

SAP Monitoring with the SAP Solution Manager captures metrics and data points from your SAP systems. Relevant data is gathered from applications, interfaces, processes, databases, jobs and the SAP Basis system. By collecting process-relevant monitoring data and comparing it against pre-defined alarm and threshold values, the SAP Solution Manager enables event and alarm management. Alerts can be transmitted via e-mail or SMS through the interface construct. The Solution Manager interface also allows an ITIL-compliant connection to a ticketing system – noting that the Solution Manager itself already provides its own IT Service Management. Through defined actions the Solution Manager can also react automatically to monitoring events.

Monitoring and event management tailored to your business process ensures that information and alerting keep the business department and IT administration informed about status and possible disruptions in a timely manner. With the Focused Insights add-on you can build informative, freely configurable dashboards that provide a quick overview of your processes and system landscape. The historical data captured by monitoring gives you the option to analyse and trace events – often revealing performance and system deficits and pointing to potential optimisations.
